Silvia Girardi is an Italian, naturalized American performer and director based in Verona. Her works are performed in theaters, museums, dance, and visual arts centers. Drawing upon classical and contemporary theatre, performance, visual art, dance, she leads original works with a particular interest in devising processes and the interrelation of different artistic disciplines. Her work spans anthropology, ecology, biology, poetry, and technology.
2000-12 she lived and worked in San Francisco collaborating with art organizations, theater companies, and foundations. 2006-12 she directed SGArt, a curatorial project promoting contemporary Italian art in Northern America through exhibitions and art gallery exchanges. She has been teaching drama since 1998 leading classes and workshops internationally.
In 2019 Silvia wrote and produced the short film “Loro” with the director Riccardo Pittaluga. In 2015, together with the director Gabriele Donati, she wrote, produced, and directed the short film “Fireflies” and the documentary “Alberi” in 2021 that was awarded the silver star for best documentary at Festival del Cinema Italiano 2021.
Since 2012 she is part of the faculty at Scuola Paolo Grassi, teaching a Devised Theatre acting and training program. Silvia is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher and in 2014 founded Casa Yoga Milano and Verona.
